These were the top 10 NYC retail leases in December

Not satisfied with regularly inking some of the city's largest office leases, WeWork (now "The We Company") made a cameo on last month's list of biggest retail leases. All together, December was a bigger month for marquee leasing deals than November. CrossFit Hell’s Kitchen NYC, 361 West 36th Street, Midtown West – 6,084 square feet The gym signed a lease for just over 6,000 square feet of space at 361 West 36th Street. Industry City Inks Leases for 130K-SF City Records Warehouse, Australian Coffee Shop

Meanwhile on the ground floor of 148 39th Street, aka Building 19, the landlords of Industry City struck a 12-year deal for a 6,000-square-foot Gumption Coffee shop. It will be the first U.S. outpost for the java purveyor, which is based in Sydney, Australia. Gumption will devote 5,000 square feet to a roastery and 1,000 square feet to a café. The spot will serve breakfast and lunch, along with a selection of local baked goods. The owners are already building out the space with the aim of opening the café and roastery on Sept. 1..

 

RETAIL BRIEFS: RKF welcomes Joe Bananas to the US; Isa serves up another Baked by Melissa shop | Real Estate Weekly

●ISA REALTY GROUP Bite-sized baking phenom Baked by Melissa has opened another New York store as the company expands its product offering an eyes further growth. Isa Realty Group brokered the lease for a 550 s/f inline space at 208 East 86th Street that was formerly occupied by Organic Avenue. Isa director Louis Franco and colleague Joseph Isa represented both tenant and building owner. “The timing couldn’t be better for Baked By Melissa to enter this dynamic corridor with Ulta Cosmetics recently opening their Manhattan flagship just steps away,” said Franco. Baked By Melissa signed a lease directly next door to Lush Cosmetics on what is considered a seven day a week, night and day corridor and one of the busiest retail stretches in New York City. Baked by Melissa was founded in 2008 by laid-off marketing executive Melissa Ben-Ishay. the bakery now has 14 locations in the greater New York City area, including one in JFK Airport, ships nationwide and expects double-digit sales growth next year.
